Event Comments:

Thank you to all who came out for this past weekend’s Ride into History!

Despite the rain on Friday night we pushed forward with the Cruise n’ Concert…. Over 200 concert goers came and stood under tents and umbrellas as they rocked out, danced and enjoyed the serenades of Dave Anthony, The Seabillys and Randy ‘ELVIS’ Friskie. Even some classic cars braved the weather to join in on the event. Hunger Management Food Truck kept up with the orders coming in as the Fort Langley Lions served coffee to warm up attendees. All four presenting credit union sponsors; Aldergrove Financial Group, Envision Financial, G&F Financial Group and Prospera Credit Union stood by with free giveaways, contest draws and more for the concert guests. Greater Vancouver Powersports even braved the weather and brought two Spyders out, despite the fact that we “stole” their tent to cover “Elvis”!

Saturday’s Scenic Ride & Dinner Banquet went forward as planned and the sun shone providing us what we needed. We had over 110 motorcycles pre-registered for the charity ride, with even more showing up the day of the event, It seems the pancake and sausages, graciously provided by The Fort Langley Lions, were happily devoured before we headed out on our scenic ride. And what a ride it was – scenic, with memorable stops and good food (thank you to the Gateway of Hope for making and bringing out the wraps and munchies for our lunch stop)! The route took us a little longer than anticipated, so we didn’t get to participate in the rodeo that was planned before we were being directed in to our delicious dinners, provided by Langley Milestones in the Gateway of Hope facility. Hearing Gary’s life changing story was touching for all and reminded us of the reason we participate in this event. Thanks to all of our sponsors for the great Poker Run and Door prizes.

At this time, we would like to send out our thoughts and prayers to our injured riders who could not join us. The updated information I have is that Tom is the only one still in the hospital. We went and visited him and, while uncomfortable, he is still cracking jokes and giving all of the nurses a hard time. Tom is our Ride Route Planner and we look forward to what he brings us next year.

We expect to do an official donation between the Ride into History Committee and the Gateway of Hope in early September, at which time we will be able to announce the final dollar figures raised from this weekend event. While our numbers may be down because of the rain Friday night, the Ride into History still expects to be able to provide Gateway with much needed funds to press forward with their many valued programs and services.

We are grateful to all the riders, volunteers, staff and Sponsors who stepped up to make this event such a success.

Make sure to write next year’s dates on your calendar now - July 22 & 23, 2016 – this will be our 5 year celebration and we expect to bring a number of new things to the party!
