The GVMC Annual Chipmunk Creek Trail Ride Chipmunk Creek August 28, 2017
On Sunday August 27, 2017 the GVMC held their annual Chipmunk Creek trail ride and poker run. This was a non-competitive event attracting recreational riders whose ages ranged from tykes as young as four years old to senior citizens well up in their 60ís. The kids had a great time riding the well chaperoned Bear Cub trail while the older riders spent the day riding the Chipmunk Creek trails. A total of 60 riders participated in this event. The weather for the event was warm and sunny. There had been no rain for many days prior to the event and the trails were dry and in excellent condition. As required by the Forest Service the majority of the riders were out of the bush by 1:00 PM and the sweepers returned to the staging area by 1:30. Because of the extreme dryness extra diligence was taken at the technical inspection to ensure that all motorcycles were equipped with spark arrestors in good working condition. The event could not have been the outstanding success that it was if it were not for the time and effort put in by club members. Thanks go out to Ray, Chris, Wes, and Garth, for prepping and arrowing the trails; to Donna and her crew for running the concession stand; to Jackie and Debbie for running the sign-up and poker run; to Dave, Jim, Phil, and Bill for being everywhere and anywhere help was needed; and thanks to Dwight for putting the whole thing together and dealing with the Chilliwack Rec Sites and Trails.
