SPECIAL BULLETIN Reported by your field reps: Vincent Harley and Bonnie(ville) Davidson Reporting live from Lake Cowichan B.C.
On June 23,24and 25, An event of Great Magnitude occurred. The Greater Vancouver Motorcycle Club made itís first club visit to the Lake Cowichan area. This event was attended by 25 members and guests who, According to witness accounts, seemed to enjoy the festivities.
The weekend started on Friday, June 23 with the arrival of club members. By 9:00 PM most were already in their rooms at The Lake Cowichan Lodge. A social time was held in the parking lot there.
Saturday morning started with a quick 7:00 AM (for some) Breakfast and then out on a 260km Run.
The route took them through some of the most picturesque and unique areas. They started in Lake Cowichan then out to Sahtlam, Duncan, Westholme, Maple Bay, Cowichan Bay, Cobble Hill, Shawnigan Lake and then out through Langford, Luxton and on to Sooke where some stopped for a coffee. From there on to Jordan River (This town is closed completely), Shirley and into Port Renfrew where we lunched at the Port Renfrew Pub. The roads from Jordan River to Port Renfrew proved to be a challenge.(sore butts anybody?)
Upon leaving Port Renfrew they had to cross a few single lane bridges and avoid about a thousand potholes on the way to Mesachie Lake where they turned back to Lake Cowichan and their Motel.
The club met at The Shaker Mill Restaurant for a group dinner buffet. The food was pretty good but not up to the normal standard of this establishment. There was a Karaoke arranged at the restaurant for their entertainment where the stars of the club came out to shine. Members like:
Phil (donít ask me to sing again) Blackburn, Julie(little miss I donít want to) Blackburn, Dave(country boy)Massey, Renee( Dancing Queen) Camilli, Denise (Big Red) Thompson, Sophie (Ala Quebequois) Chenier, Anne (I canít sing) Talley, Debbie (I can see clearly now) Jamison, Wes ( Plucky comedy relief) Jamison and Kathy (Sing, sing a song) Prost. On a more serious note, We thank all who were there for the company and fellowship you provided us. WE miss you all and look forward to when next we meet.
