Event Comments: 2018 GVMC Chipmunk Creek Trail Ride and Poker Run
Aug 26, 2018 Almost two months without rain and on the day of our event it had to pour. But we’ve had rain at our events before and it’s never dampened our spirits and the 2018 Chipmunk Creek Trail Ride and Poker Run was no exception. About 80 riders showed up for the event, from the kids who would spend the day riding the Bear Cub trails to the hard core riders who spent the day on the A and B trails, and collected their prizes at the end of the day.
The event went off without a hitch. The riders left for the trails shortly after the 10:30 riders meeting and by 2:30 they had returned for the awards ceremony. There were a lot of wet and muddy riders with big smiles on their faces as the awards were handed out. Ron Malakof won the poker hand and was awarded a trophy and a brand new knobbie tire.
Special thanks go out to all the GVMC members who contributed to making this event such a success. To Dwight Harris and Chris Carey who put in an enormous amount of time and effort organizing the event, clearing the trails, and arranging sponsors and prizes. To Donna Serne for running the food concession, and to Jackie Heppler, Jim Sloat, Barry Cargo, Dave Seifert, Bill Talley, Phil and Julie Blackburn and Wes and Deb Jamison who were always at the right time and place to lend a hand.
The 2018 GVMC Chipmunk Creek Trailride and Poker Run is over – can’t wait to do it again next year.
