Event Comments:
A Great Season of Riding. Congratulations to the Winners!
This fun event for club members involves recording the odometer readings of participating members, who pay $10 each, at the Spring Ride in April, and then at the Pioneer Run in September the final odometer readings are recorded again. The participants names are then put on ballots and are then divided into teams by a random secret draw. This means the organizers do not know who is on which team until the names are randomly drawn at the end of the contest. Then the mileages for each team are added up and the team with the highest mileage is the winner. All the money collected from all the participants is then divided amongst the winning team.
For 2024 the winners of the mileage contest are Team 1, consisting of Chris Carey, Wes Jamison, John Taylor and Phil Blackburn, each of whom received $35.
The participant with the highest mileage was Chris Carey with 9,155 km (who shared in Team 1’s winnings).
The total mileage for all 14 participants was 57,261.3 km, for an average of 3875.8 km each.
Thanks to all who took part, and to Jim Sloat who helped me randomly select team members, and add up the mileages.
