The Spring Ride was instigated in 2007 by Dwight and Pat Harris to get the riding season off to a good start and to polish up rusty riding skills. It was a chance to renew acquaintances with fellow Club Members and socialize over dinner after the winter hiatus.
A highlight of this Ride was a group photo of all the riders in front of our banner and individual keepsake photos presented to each rider. Initially all the individual photos were posted on a back board on the Clubhouse wall during the year’s riding season.
Over the years, The Spring Ride has continued to be the event that starts the riding season off for us.

Event Comments: 2022 16th Annual Spring Fun Run
This year’s weather was very good which brought out a great turnout of participants for this annual event. We had 24 signups and out of those 8 were not members. There were no issues or accidents reported and everyone was accounted for.
Participants had a choice of following a route or using their GPS to find the addresses of checkpoints. If they followed the route it was 173 kilometers long and took them 3 to 3.5 hours. The route went from Surrey to Richmond through Abbotsford and then Fort Langley and back to Surrey to the GVMC Clubhouse for prizes and a Hot Dog, Chili, Salad, and Chips lunch.
This year’s Poker Run Winners are: First Place with a Heart Flush Ace high hand was Kevin Kinneard. Second Place with a Heart Flush King high hand was Jim Sloat. Third Place with Three Of A Kind, in threes with a Queen high hand was Terry Derrett. The Booby Prize went to Brock Kinneard
Sponsor Mark Lotzkar President and General Manger of Pacific Metals Recycling International donated $100.00 towards the food for the event and a pair of Cineplex Tickets. A draw was held for the Cineplex Tickets which Sharon Smith won.
Organizer Bill Talley would like to thank Richard Brown (for taking the pictures), Ron Gaudette, Dave Massey, Dave Kingston, Lois Wilson, and Jim Brooke ( for looking after checkpoints), Phil Blackburn (Sweeper), Jackie Heppler (Signup), Jackie Heppler and Julie Blackburn (Kitchen and serving), Brock Kinneard (cone pickup) and everyone else who jumped in to help.
Stay tuned for the 2023 Spring Fun Run so you don’t miss out on a great ride!
